Porcelain is pretty complicated material and I haven't used it since I studied doll making. First you sculpt the body parts of clay and use them to make plaster molds. After that you cast the porcelain parts, burn them in a kiln, smooth the casting seams and burn again. Then starts the fun, painting: first the skin color, then shades and highlights, eyes, eye brows, lips, cheeks. After every step and color layer body parts go to the kiln, a modern doll like this maybe five or six times. It's a lot of work but worth it! And once you've made the mold you can use it several times.
